FAQ

Straight answers for procurement engineers — compliance, capabilities, and how to get a fast quote.

Is FIMS Manufacturing ITAR-registered?
Yes. FIMS is registered under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Export-controlled work follows a controlled process — flag your inquiry as export-controlled on the contact form and we arrange a secure transfer instead of a web upload.
What certifications and standards does FIMS hold?
Our current certifications and standards are listed in the site footer on every page, including quality-management and aerospace-standard registrations. Certificate copies are available on request with your RFQ.
What machining processes and tolerances can you hold?
CNC milling (3- and 4-axis), CNC turning, wire EDM, waterjet cutting, splining and shaping, auto polishing and deburring, TIG welding, and precision assembly. Achievable tolerance depends on process and geometry — see the process capability table on the Capabilities page, and send your print for a firm answer.
What file formats can I send with an RFQ?
PDF drawings plus STEP (.step/.stp), IGES (.igs/.iges), and DXF CAD files — up to five files, 25 MB each, through the contact form. Export-controlled drawings should never be uploaded; flag the inquiry and we arrange a secure transfer.
How quickly do you respond to a quote request?
One business day for most requests. Complex multi-part programs may need a short engineering review before a firm quote.
Do you take prototype or low-volume work?
Yes — from one-off prototypes and repair parts to recurring production runs. Including quantity, material, and a need-by date with your RFQ helps us slot the work accurately.
Which industries does FIMS serve?
Aerospace, defense and government programs, industrial OEMs, and energy infrastructure — see the Industries page for program examples.
Where is FIMS Manufacturing located?
8 Allerman Road, Oakland, New Jersey 07436 — in the NJ/NYC metro area, shipping nationwide.
